Realm Royale is a multiplayer game in the Battle Royale genre from Hi-Rez Studios. The game was developed for the fantasy shooter Paladins but then became a single project. For a short period of existence, the game became highly popular. Realm Royale is now considered to be a new competitor of such loud titles like PUBG and Fortnite.

Graphics — 4.5/5

The Realm Royale graphics can be called Fortnite-looking. They are cartoonish and colorful just the same. Fantasy landscapes and weapons are also similar to those in Fortnite.

The interface is convenient and user-friendly. You can go to the game’s profile and find all the needed information there. Rules, tutorials, screenshots, and other information recommended knowing before playing.

Gameplay — 4.5/5

In Realm Royale, you need to stay the only one survivor among a large group of people. The participants can join in groups of up to four heroes. At the beginning of the game, the player selects one of five available classes with its set of abilities.

For example, Warriors can set up a healing totem. The next group which is Engineers build turrets and shields. Assassins play as snipers, Hunters launch reconnaissance drones, Mages can create fireballs. With any group selected, the player can ride horses at any time of the game.

In your arsenal, there will be shotguns, sniper rifles, ice staffs, swords, crossbows, and other weapons. To get a victory, you need to forge a legendary weapon in the forges of the kingdom. But sometimes it can be rather dangerous: enemies can easily attack while you are making equipment.

You can use horses to move around the map quickly, and among the locations like Jaguar claws, lifeless sands of Goblins Gorge, Permafrost Glaciers and the Mushroom Forest iridescent with all the colors of the rainbow.

Controls — 4.5/5

You need to get acquainted with the controls in Realm Royale before you begin the play. These are the keyboard combinations you better know from the beginning to perform the agile playing. To move forward, use W, to move backward, use S. A is for strafe left, D is for strafe right.

To turn left, use the left stick, and the right stick, to turn right accordingly. With Num Lock, toggle autorun, with Space or A, you will jump. There are also lots of other combinations for interacting with weapons, and so on.

Some actions can be performed with the mouse clicks. You can also use Xbox Controller on PC, though it is pretty limited.

Replay Value — 4.5/5

The Realm Royale release is in the early access. So probably the game development is far from complete. But Hi-Rez plan is to provide active support to the project and continuously offer new content.

Now in Realm Royale, there are five classes, 17 types of weapons and 25 abilities, but there are no microtransactions, a system of progress and cosmetic items. Still, the interest to the game is rather high even with the named shortcomings.
