Monopoly Plus is a digital version of the famous tabletop game Monopoly. In this simple economic game, you invest in urban infrastructure and real estate and tend to become a monopolist, driving your opponents broke. If you download Monopoly Plus for PS4, Xbox One, or PC, you can play it with players from all over the world!
Graphics 5/5
The original field is preserved, but now it’s all in 3D, with objects animated. There are all the elements of the printed game, from The Monopoly Man to tokens that copy those of the current edition. All the events, from property purchases to arrests, are well animated, preserving the tabletop feel. And the requirements are low: on PC, it just requires 8 GB RAM, a 2 GB video card, and 2GB storage.
Gameplay 5/5
It’s that very Monopoly you have probably played in the printed version. Roll the dice and move around the city. If the property you stop on isn’t private yet, you can purchase it from the city for its price or refuse, and then it’s auctioned. If you stop on private property, you should pay the rent to its owner. When you have all the properties of the same color, you can develop them to raise the rent.
Along with that, there are urban utilities and railroads, taxes, arrests for parking in the wrong place or for cheating, and Chance/Community Chest cards. All of these elements you remember from the original are digitized.
You can play against AI, use split-screen mode to play with those in your room, or play online. The latter would be the most popular mode if not for endless bugs that cause the game to stop. It doesn’t affect local modes, though.

As this game is made for consoles as well, even its PC version works well with a gamepad. It may feel a little awkward when you just begin playing, but it takes minutes to get used.
Replay Value 4/5
If we spoke of the Monopoly Plus from the perfect world, we’d rate its replayability as perfect. The prototype exists for many decades and doesn’t feel like quitting. Monopoly Plus by Ubisoft we have now, though, will probably make you quit playing online after a bug or two, when connectivity fails, and a game you play cannot be finished. Luckily, there is no such thing in local multiplayer or single mode.
The Bottom Line
Let’s hope one day they fix all the bugs on the server side, and we’ll be able to enjoy Monopoly Plus the way it’s supposed to be.
