E3 2017: Bethesda on Blog

Sunday night, June 11, brought with it Bethesda’s annual E3 press conference, and we are finally ready to summarize all the important stuff happened there. The developer and publisher announced a slew of new games, including the sequels to Wolfenstein and the Evil Within, a new Dishonored game, Skyrim for Nintendo Switch and two major titles coming to VR.

That said, there were some exciting announcements, and we’ve got the hottest ones collected right here.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Release date: October 27, 2017
Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

The sequel to the critically acclaimed shooter from award-winning studio MachineGames was announced, so the war is not over until BJ Blazkowicz says it’s over. After narrow survival in his final mission in Wolfenstein: The New Order, BJ is heading to the US to stand up against the Nazi regime on his home turf. He will need to gather as many resistance forces as he can to end their reign of tyranny in America.

The game is set in 1961 and features a cast of pulp movie archetypes. It’s a world-class shooter with compelling characters, a captivating story and gripping gameplay that lets you unleash your inner war hero. Whether you like to run-and-gun, sneak around, take a tactical approach – or all of the above – Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a must-buy game this fall.

The Evil Within 2

Release date: October 13, 2017
Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

In The Evil Within 2, a sequel to Resident Evil creator and horror mastermind Shinji Mikami delivers even more fast-paced and nightmare-inducing gameplay. The game features the new force of dread and weirdness the original protagonist Sebastian Castellanos has to face.

This time, Sebastian receives a word that his daughter he thought had died years ago is alive and being held by the people responsible for ruining his life in the first game. So, he makes the call to step back into a surreal nightmarescape in order to save her.

The Evil Within 2 is set in Union, a crumbling city built using Lily’s mind as the Core, and presents a mix of claustrophobic environments and new, less linear areas which you can explore at your own pace.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

Release date: September 15, 2017
Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

The most notorious killer Billie Lurk and her old mentor Daud team up once again on the mission to take down the mysterious, god-like Outsider who has driven the series’ events so far. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is the standalone adventure that is apparently set in the universe after the events of Dishonored 2.

Now, a mechanically augmented Billie Lurk will take on the greatest mission in the series, becoming the ultimate supernatural assassin. Death of the Outsider features new powers, enemies, and settings, becoming the perfect entry for newcomers to the series. You won’t need any previous experience to jump into the game.

And for longtime Dishonored fans, this adventure delivers a significant expansion to the gameplay and lore. With the OG+ mode, fans can unleash their full potential by using some signature abilities from Dishonored 2.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Release date: Holiday 2017
Platform: Nintendo Switch

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the award-winning fantasy masterpiece, arrives for Nintendo Switch. Now, playing this open-world adventure, you can go through the frozen mountaintops of Skyrim anywhere — on your TV or on the go.

It comes with the new gameplay features like lockpicking and motion controls for combat. Moreover, there is an additional loot unlocked from The Legend of Zelda amiibo, so you can deck your character out and dress up as Link.

Get ready to fight your enemies with the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield, as well as look epic in the Champion’s Tunic. The Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire expansions are all included as well.

Fallout 4 VR

Release date: October, 2017
Platform: PC on HTC Vive

Bethesda also provided us with some more details on Fallout 4 VR and revealed that you have a chance to hop into the post-apocalyptic Commonwealth this October. So, you will be able to do some up-close-and-personal with all the dangers it contains pretty soon.

It’s the full open-world game in a VR headset, so you will play the entirety of Fallout 4 with new combat, building and crafting systems reimagined for virtual reality. The world will be fully explorable, including hundreds of quests, characters, and locations.

This is your opportunity to experience Fallout 4 in a whole new way.

Doom VFR

Release date: By the end of 2017
Platform: PlayStation VR and HTC Vive

Prepare to see the world of Doom like never before. Doom VFR is a standalone shooter for PlayStation VR and the HTC Vive where you teleport around caverns shooting the hellspawn.

The trailer features floating hands in conjunction with a lot of machine-gun shooting action and ensures that Doom VFR maintains its trademark fast and frenetic pace. Along with all classic Doom weaponry, you’ll have the ability to Teleport and Jet-Strafe so that you can move fast in combat and instantly close the distance between you and your foes.

Plus, as an A.I. operative, you can transfer your consciousness to UAC devices and robots to solve challenging puzzles and gain access to new areas.
