As for a simple office time-killer, Subway Surfers latest version looks smooth enough. It doesn’t have many differences from its mobile inspirer. The quality of graphics is the same, though developers could make it a bit better using powerful PC hardware. On the other hand, it runs perfectly well on slow old machines and tablets powered by desktop Windows.

Subway Surfers gameplay is incredibly simple yet extremely addictive. You can select one of several characters, including a rabbit, a piglet, and some others. Pick up your favorite pet and run away from the farmer’s pickup. Freedom is far away, though, because you have to escape from tenacious hands of the policeman who decides to get the pet back to the trunk. You have to run, slide, and jump over various obstacles to avoid slowing down. Power-ups on your way will help you to score more points in a shorter time. There’s a jetpack to fly safely above the city, jumpy sneakers to reach the rooftops of trains and to jump over vehicles, a coin magnet, and a score booster. You can upgrade each power-up separately to prolonge its effect duration and multiply the score faster.

Subway Surfers arcade game supports only the mouse input in the menu and only keyboard buttons for playing. You need only the WASD or arrows to jump up, left, right, and to slide under obstacles. Unfortunately, controllers and alternative layouts are not supported. Hopefully, they will come with new updates.

Unlike the original game, Subway Surfers full game isn’t endless. There are 100+ levels that you can complete to pass the game. There’s not much sense in replaying it once more because there’s nothing to do except beating the high score. Perhaps, it lacks online leaderboards, so that you could compare your results to scores of other players.

The Bottom Line

Subway Surfers is a good try to tribute the classic mobile game on the PC. It has low system requirements, doesn’t take much storage, and it’s totally addictive. Funny animals and busy city roads are waiting for you. Complete levels, purchase power-ups, beat high scores, and have a good time during breaks.
