AnyDesk Remote Desktop
AnyDesk Remote Desktop is the app for accessing Windows computers remotely if they are online. Just download the server app for your PC, and then download AnyDesk Remote Desktop for iOS or Android to access it. With its great possibilities and encrypted data transfer, it’s quick and secure.
Design 5/5
It is one of the apps one should not see at all; the bigger part of the screen is given to the remote screen, the better. There are menus, of course, and remote desktop options, but they are all relatively minor next to the primary mission of the app. And that’s the right approach.
Usability 4/5
Like all the apps of this sort, AnyDesk requires a server part and a client part. Install the server app on your PC, and then the client app on your smartphone. Then you’ll need to establish a connection by entering your PC IP address manually or detecting it with net scanning. It depends on your connection speed, but the overall response is fast enough to operate the remote device with almost no delay.
Features 5/5
AnyDesk lets you control your PC remotely from your Android or iOS mobile device. It lets you use its performance and compatible apps when your smartphone or tablet isn’t enough. For example, you can run desktop video or audio editing apps on your computer, controlling it from your mobile.
Due to high access granted to the server app (and thus to client apps), AnyDesk lets you administer your PC as well. Enter the registry, edit it, restart or shut down the PC, change settings, and so on. You can also exchange files between your phone and computer, which is a sufficient reason to use the service.
The data circulating between your devices are protected. The service uses 2048-bit RSA encryption, which offers even better protection than today’s default AES-256, and TLS 1.2. It works even for free users, let alone corporate.
So, you can use AnyDesk for remote assistance if there are any problems, or for collaboration over documents. If your case is the latter, you better activate the double cursor option.
In-app purchases 3/5
AnyDesk Remote Desktop is free for private use; you only need to buy the license if you use it for business. Its version for one business user is $8.99/mo, and there are extended licenses for $16.99/mo (with unlimited device support) and €41.99/month (with unlimited simultaneous sessions). Quite expensive for private users, but if a large business needs a service for remote support, that’s an option.
The Bottom Line
AnyDesk Remote Desktop is one of the best mobile apps for remotely helping others or accessing your home or office desktops from afar. It’s got all it takes to become a hit in its rather narrow niche. It works both over the Internet and a local network, and it even does its job over 3G.
