Professional Review

Fortnite is a free-to-play survival shooter game created and rolled out by Epic Games in 2017. Battle Royale is one of the three Fortnite game mode versions that are based on a similar concept. The ‘battle royale’ game style implies the last man standing concept that is clearly seen in Fortnite. While playing the game, your mission is to become the last Rambo standing by hiding, shooting and eventually outliving 100 other characters.

The game is available on any device. You can download Fortnite on PC, Mac, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, iPhone, Android and across other mobile gadgets.

Graphics 5/5

Compared to the solid, realistic visuals of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (a similar battle royale game that inspired the Fortnite concept), Fortnite: Battle Royale has really bright, humorously cartoonish graphics and child-friendly aesthetic. In addition to this, players can dress their characters in space suits as well as in rabbit and dinosaur costumes. Moreover, while playing Fortnite, you can even make your players dance. Even though visually Fortnite stands out from the rest video games of its genre, it’s definitely a charm visual-wise.

Gameplay 5/5

The idea of the game is very similar to its predecessors: 100 players skydive onto a small island and start looking for gear defending themselves from other players. You can fight alone, with one extra player or with friends (up to 3 people), hence the Solo, Duos or Squads modes. As you progress, the playable island area slowly constricts, which gives you less and less territory to fight on. The last player (or squad) alive gains victory.

Battle Royale offers seasonal approach introducing various tweaks and customizations on a steady basis. For instance, Fortnite Season 9 has just arrived across all platforms. The update features a new battle pass, visual changes as well as other enhancements within the game concept. Generally speaking, Fortnite is like Hunger Games mixed with Call of Duty. The fact that the Fortnite gameplay lacks extremely violent visuals greatly contributes to its child-friendliness.

Controls 5/5

The default controls in Fortnite for mouse and keyboard leave much to be desired. They are not optimised for building, which is one of the key parts of the gameplay. Luckily, you can easily fix that. Generally speaking, Fortnite has fairly complex console and PC controls which are now successfully adapted to a smaller (smartphone) screen. The mobile controls scheme of the Fortnite game features virtual buttons on the gadget’s touchscreen. Fortnite mobile controls differ from those of the console and PC so much that even the most enthusiastic Fortnite fans have to learn mobile controls from scratch.

Replay Value 5/5

With the game’s ever-shifting entity and limitless freedom of possibilities, we can easily say that the Fortnite Battle Royale replay value is infinite. In fact, if you have kids who fancy this game, one thing you may often notice is that they can’t get enough of playing it. A lot of adults can relate to this feeling too, by the way. Wondering why the Fortnite replay value is so high? Oh well, it’s all simple: Fortnite is just more fun than most other games.

The Bottom Line

Fortnite has almost perfected the Battle Royale genre and incorporated a touch of its own. Fortnite Battle Royale game has drawn over 125 million players in less than a year since its release date cementing itself as a cultural marvel. So if you’re up for playing the most popular battle royale game on Earth, you’re welcome to finish reading our Fortnite review and access the Fortnite free to play battle royale mode right away.

Conclusion

Leaving all of the rabbit costumes and fun dances aside, Fortnite Battle Royale is a uniquely designed, infinite platform of a game that offers accessibility and that breath-of-fresh-air competitive spirit that many adore so much. It’s truly an ultimate modern phenomenon. So play Fortnite online today and enjoy the uniqueness of the gaming experience!
