As football (what all un-American world calls it) goes digital, it’s paid as much attention in the gaming world as its prototype gets in real sports. FIFA game by EA Sports has established its domination long ago, and this year it has something to add to its major project.

Graphics — 5/5

Despite that the latest FIFA PS4 installments were developed for the same hardware, this one gets the most out of it. The stadiums seem alive as never before, the players move more naturally, and the ball rolls and flies just like the real one.

Ball movement is said to be a bit improved, but it takes a trained eye to notice it.

Prepare about 43 GB on your console drive. It may take more with add-ons, but now only one is available, with Portuguese comments.

Gameplay  — 5/5

Though there’s been some minor change made in the way anything or anyone moves, the game is still the FIFA we love.

There are still different modes, but Champions League seems the most attractive. It’s been contracted to PES for last ten years, and now FIFA 19 represents it. Select your team, find a match playing a similar team from the same division, and play versus each other online. The names and stuff are licensed, so you can really play Barcelona,

Personal Career mode is also here, but it became more complicated. Now you select from three characters: Danny and Alex promoting up through Champions League and Kim making it to the top of the Women’s World Cup).

Kick Off that has always been the most popular of all modes now has something it never had: home rules. Rules are adjustable in settings before you start, so discuss it with your party and set up. It still supports up to 4 controllers, so it’s a great entertainment for a party of four. Multiplayer is also available in online mode and involves from 2 up to 22 participants. It requires PlayStation®Plus subscription. Alas, playing party-to-party online is not available.

Controls — 4/5

PlayStation 4 controller must have become an extension of your hands if you’re a devoted player. The developers didn’t change much in controls. But the system is still complicated, and for good results, your moves should get automatic.

If you’re new to it, you better start with the manual EA cared to publish. The game always offered a training system, help to novice and spare bytes for an expert.

Replay Value — 5/5

In real life football still seems far from exhaustion; so it is with its digital representations. In fact, if you’re a fan, you’ll sooner switch to FIFA 20 when it’s released than get tired of FIFA 19. Its various game modes are worth endless hours of exploration and mastering. When the stories are through and all the teams are tried, there are always online matches or Kick Off’s with unpredictable outcomes.

Conclusion

So EA Sports still offers the greatest football adventure of the year (sorry, Konami). And it’s not just about refranchising CL, it’s about overall quality. The game is as good as a soccer simulator can be, and with all its details pros may dislike, it’s still the best representation.
