The app is designed to represent your financial story the easiest way, with special tabs for your transactions, for your contacts, for current offers, and so on. The color scheme is well readable and easy to see at a glance. With no standalone apps for smartwatches, the app delivers notifications with system methods quite well. iPad users will be satisfied with its tablet-specific version, especially after iPad OS is released.

When you start the app, it suggests you connect your credit or debit card to Cash App. It’s easier when you do, though not necessary. Otherwise, you can just top up your account with payment to your ID.

Sending and receiving money with this app is easy. To send funds, you only need to know the recipient’s Cash ID; to receive, you need to provide yours. When the transaction is made, you are notified of that.

Android and iOS versions are quite similar, except for iMessage integration of the latter. You can send or request money with a message, using the built-in mechanics. Cash Card can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay, letting you pay with your phone at desks.

The only serious limitation is that the app only works in the 50 states of the USA. It doesn’t even work in territories like Puerto Rico, let alone other countries. It’s even more severely restricted than Venmo that can be accessed from anywhere.

Square Cash App can be used without an actual app. You just need to enter the site cash.me and, knowing the recipient’s Cash App ID, send money to them from your bank card. You don’t even need to have an account for that.

If you do, you can order a Cash App card and use it just like a regular credit or debit card. Personal use is restricted: you can send up to $250 a week until you confirm your personality. That increases the limit by up to $2500 a week.

The app is basically free if you use a Personal account and only operate with debit funds. If you send money from your credit card via CashApp, they are charged an extra 3%. Business accounts are able to receive more money, but the incoming funds are charged 2.75%.

The Bottom Line

This app is a great way to send or receive funds online, be aware of your accounts, connect your bank cards, or, on the contrary, conceal it. Its only serious restriction is location-based: you cannot use it outside the US. If you need an international app, you better opt for PayPal; but if you’re good with domestic transactions, you can install Cash App and enjoy its benefits.
