ElfYourself by Office Depot
ElfYourself is an Android app that helps you turn yourself into a dancing elf. You can download ElfYourself from Google Play for your Android phone or tablet.
Design 5/5
The app interface is very straightforward and easy to navigate. Given that ElfYourself is very likely to be used by children and/or their older family members, this is a particularly important feature. The buttons are large and colorful, with helpful labels that tell you exactly what to do to achieve the best results in ElfYourself.
Usability 5/5
The app didn’t crash once while being tested for this ElfYourself review, so the developers have done a really good job optimizing it for different Android versions and devices running them. Since ElfYourself has to do some serious number crunching to get features such as the AR mode to work, it is quite impressive how smoothly the app runs even on older devices.
We also liked the fact that you aren’t limited to just using the photos stored on your phone or tablet. You can take new photos directly from ElfYourself, and they won’t be saved to your camera roll, which means that you can goof around as much as you want to without having to delete dozens of pictures later. In addition, you can use Facebook photos, so you can elf your friends and send them a cute, funny video as a surprise.
Features 5/5
In ElfYourself you can create up to five elves at the same time. Just choose the pictures you’d like to use and position them correctly with the app’s helpful guide. The photos will then be sent to ElfYourself servers that do the processing to turn you and your loved ones into elves. Bear in mind that you’re not even limited to human faces with ElfYourself, so be sure to include your family pets into the fun!
The animations you get with ElfYourself are fun and entertaining just by themselves, but you can also turn them into personalized holiday cards and send them to your friends and family. What’s more, there’s an AR mode in ElfYourself that allows you to place the elves you created onto surfaces and objects around you. You can even take pictures of your elf-self dancing in front of the Christmas tree and share them with your friends to spread holiday joy.
In-App Purchases 3/5
You can’t replay the animations you get without making in-app purchases, which is pretty disappointing. The prices for a certain number of replays are rather steep, so you need to be pretty invested in the app to purchase the replays.
The Bottom Line
ElfYourself is a great way to have fun with your friends and family during the winter holiday season. Admittedly, not getting any free replays at all may seem unfair, but you’ll enjoy ElfYourself even without the replay feature. And if you end up loving ElfYourself and using it a lot, why not get some replays and thank the developers for all the fun times you’ve had with the app?
Easy to use;
AR mode.
