Google Earth
Google Earth is an application that allows users to see the detailed version of the Earth. The images were taken with the help of the satellites, and now you can see many locations within a few taps. The application was created by Google. More than 100 million users downloaded it on their devices. Google Earth is not a default application in the Android system (as, for example, Google Maps), so you have to download Google Earth manually from Google Play Market or App Store. Developers regularly update the app and fix various bugs.
Design 5/5
The interface looks great. After you start the application, you will see the planet Earth. You can move the picture with your finger. There are a few icons on the top of the screen. You can also tap the “menu” icon and use more features. There is also a “help” option that tells you more about the app and how to use is.
Usability 4/5
Google Earth works nicely and without lags. There are plenty of positive reviews for both iOS and Android versions. However, it takes some time to load the detailed map. This is the only disadvantage that we managed to find. To download Google Earth, your Android version has to be 4.1 or up.
Features 5/5
First of all, after you start the app, you will see a short tutorial. You are able to type the place you want to “visit”, and the app will show it on the planet Earth. You can also get information about places of interests in the selected area.
You can enable the “street view” mode by tapping on the icon of the person, which is located at the bottom left corner. This feature allows you to see how the area look in real life (the feature is similar to the Google Maps' street view feature). You can also switch between 2D and 3D view any time you wish.
Users can also measure a distance by pressing the “ruler” icon. Then select the starting point and the destination. The app will show you how many miles are there between these two spots.
In-app purchases 5/5
You can download Google Earth for free. There are no in-app purchases. You can use all the features (street view, 2D/3D mode switching, typing the name of the place in the required field, etc.) for free.
The Bottom Line
Google Earth is an exciting application that allows users to "visit" any part of the planet Earth. The application has a straightforward design and useful features, which you can use right after you start the app.
Fascinating design;
High-quality pictures.
