It’s the default already; Netflix app looks like a digital shelf in a video rental. It takes a tap on a title to see its poster, cast, trailers and screenshots, reviews and rates, and mark it for future watching or start watching immediately. The player is quite basic, though it gives the entire screen to the video, only showing control elements when tapped upon. It’s the video you watch, not the app itself.

Netflix offers you personalized experience, based on your practical preferences. First, you name some shows and movies you like, and then Netflix offers its likes to you, preferred by others with basically the same tastes. The more you watch, the finer are the predictions by Netflix. The app supports multiple accounts within one family, and for each separate account recommendations are separate as well.

Each week Netflix offers entire seasons of new projects, filmed in different countries. You can watch them all at once, or mark for later. These bookmarks are also used for personalizing your account. If your memory allows, you can cache videos for later offline watching.

Each new (or old) movie or show has a trailer, a set of screenshots, a detailed cast, a brief description, and a rate by users. You can also contribute to this process, rating a video. Alas, reviews by users are no more supported.

Being a reference streaming video service, Netflix produces its original series and feature films (like House of Cards, Narcos, The Crown), as well as continues popular shows dropped by other channels (like El Camino, a sequel of Breaking Bad by AMC). Animated shows, like Disenchantment or BoJack Horseman, are a special sort of pleasure. Finally, Netflix goes international. Not only it produces projects in various countries, but also lets you select from multiple dubbed or voiceover audio tracks or show subtitles in various languages.

Access to Netflix is paid, of course. But you can enjoy it for free for a month before you select your plan. The larger the plan, the more simultaneous streams it allows for, and the better streaming quality it provides. The most expensive one is $11.99/mo, and it offers Ultra HD streaming and up to 4 simultaneous screens. The basic one, for $7.99/mo, only provides one stream and not even HD available. All the plans, though, include unlimited access to Netflix library, and let you stream videos to your mobile devices.

Conclusion

Netflix is king nowadays when it comes to online TV, and you can enjoy it on your mobile device. Of course, it won’t decide for you what to watch, but its recommendations are very sharp and precise, so you can mostly trust them. And it offers a great library of great quality for a very affordable price.
