Pokemon Sword is a role-playing game, the first installment in the eighth generation of the Pokemon video games series. Moreover, the Pokemon Sword game is the second launch in the series that was released for the home console. The release date of this role-playing game is November 15, 2019. Graphics – 5/5

The game has very bright and colorful graphics. The landscapes look incredible with the accent on the details. What we noticed during the Pokemon Sword review is that the developers made the effects and animations to create the fairytale atmosphere. For example, sparkling effects and iridescent patterns are often used here. The characters live alive despite the fact that they were designed like the non-existing creatures. 

Gameplay – 5/5

The Pokemon Sword gameplay shares the same plot and storyline as all the previous releases. But, in this launch, the developers added several new features. Some of them are firsts for the whole series. For instance, cooperative raid encounters. This option allows players to take participation in the missions where they can cooperate with other players and defeat from other gamers or computer-controlled enemies. Another interesting thing is an open world. You can explore this during the gameplay. Moreover, such areas have a free camera movement and dynamic weather changes. 

What we liked most is the “Poke Jobs” mechanic that contains the tasks where the players need to do some work. It can be assisting in cooking or construction. Once you completed a task, you can earn the experience point or rare items. Users can also choose to begin their adventure as a trainer. For this, you need to choose one of three new partners Pokémon: Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble.

Controls – 5/5

The Pokemon Sword has two types of controls. The first one is named “casual”, and the second — “regular”. The difference is very simple. Casual Controls allow gamers to play only with a single JoyCon, right or left. It brings some changes to the commands. For example, the right stick was granted the opportunity to move both characters and menu, arrow buttons were turned into action buttons, and so on. 

Replay Value – 5/5

The Pokemon games series is one of the oldest in the gaming industry. Therefore, it is played by different people in different parts of the world. The game has a large community, so if you decided to join, most likely, you find here friends. In the new launch, the developers added several new exciting features, including Poke Jobs, open world, and cooperative raid encounters. And do not forget the multiplayer mode that has a great impact on the Replay Value rank.
