The release is appointed on January 25, 2019, so that all you need now is to stock up on patience. Resident Evil 2 Remake will be available for users of PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
What’s new to expect from the game and what will cherish your nostalgia for the original version? Let’s find out now when we still have time to prepare for a zombie apocalypse.
Resident Evil 2 Remake: new wine in old bottles?
E3-2018 pleased all the Resident Evil fans with the news about the upcoming release from Capcom. The original title was one of the most popular titles in the late 90’s and deservedly recognized as the video games classics.
Resident Evil 2 is one of the greatest survival horror games ever, and the remake version is going to continue the genre traditions in the best manner.
In Resident Evil 2 Remake, you will meet familiar characters. You will get back to the Racoon City with Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield and encounter zombies which mutated from a bio-virus all over there. Like many years before, you can start your campaign with either Leon or Claire.
Some recognizable scenes from the original were preserved too. By the way, it concerns the fight with an alligator scene. As developers insist, such episodes are worth saving.
With the same characters and a game plot, you will get a very much alike progression. There still will be plenty of puzzles where you need to track down clues, collect resources, and store everything for later use.
Nevertheless, the remake gives you more freedom to explore the environment. You’ll get a chance to investigate new paths and items to collect - that is all for gaining truly in-game independence.
Despite all the named features and combining the old elements with the brand new this is a full remake of the original Resident Evil 2. The new release redesigns the surroundings, adds a good deal to the backstory, adjusts physics and controls, and what is the most important, brings in the third-person over-the-shoulder view. The last feature deserves a separate discussion.
Scary but beautiful
The tense play and the sense of a continual horror are achieved thanks to the third-person over-the-shoulder view. It’s a usual mode for the survival horror genre that was previously used in Resident Evil 4.
With such a camera perspective, the developers are trying to preserve the terrifying nature of the game. This was the only way to show you the face-to-face fights with zombies up-close. Such a view makes the encounters more realistic and thus scaring than if you’d see them from another perspective.
Another point is bringing new possibilities for the puzzle-solving. When you explore the surroundings, walk by the labyrinths of corridors and premises of the police department, the disturbing feelings arise, and you find yourself thrilled and claustrophobic.
The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2 is equipped with a powerful engine RE Engine that is making your experience even more realistic and breathtaking.
We already know, that there won’t be a VR feature for Resident Evil 2 Remake. As the game producers claim, there’s no need to add a VR support when the third-person over-the-shoulder view is enough itself to reach the peak of fear and admiration simultaneously.
How to get prepared?
So the new game will run on PC, PlayStation 4 (PS Pro as well), and the Xbox One (Xbox One X as well). And it is better to be fully armed before the release date.
