Candy Crush Saga is one of the most successful Match 3 games ever, available for iOS and Android, as well as for desktop platforms. Download Candy Crush Saga to your smartphone or tablet and play it anywhere and anytime you want!

Graphics 5/5

Match-3 puzzles never require rich visuals, but the developers from King spared no effort on this. Candies you move look so tasty that make you want to lick the screen. Special powers work with spectacular visual effects. The characters, starting with Tiffi (the protagonist), are vivid and very alive, despite being not that necessary for the gameplay. As for the music, it reminds of Italian or French romantic history, with fairytales coming alive in confectionery masterpieces.

Gameplay 5/5

The basic Match 3 turns into magic in this saga. You complete your missions by dragging candies to form a group of three or more sweets of the same type. Then it pops, and the next ones fall from above unless blocked. Your mission may require cleaning certain fields on the board, scoring a certain number of points for popping candies, make way down for nuts, and so on. The number of moves is limited, so you should think before you act. Each time you play, the candies appear randomly, so you play each time anew.

Thus you travel with Tiffi along the Sweet Kingdom, helping its inhabitants to solve their problems. Each new location introduces new elements, like chocolate factories, locks and keys, jelly fields, and so on, with new mechanics required to handle each of them. You can use powerups if you cannot beat the level in regular ways. They can be received as rewards or just bought.

In addition, there are bonus games, like hatching a dinosaur’s egg or beating other random players in weekly contests. Facebook integration lets you send your friends a gift and receive their help as well. Of course, it also means an online leaderboard motivating you to play better.

Controls 5/5

The controls are mostly based on swipes necessary to drag sweets. The principle is the same across the game; in some mini-games, like daily spin, or hatching eggs, you only need to tap the button. It’s equally easy on a PC, with a mouse or a touchpad, and on touchscreen devices. So we may conclude it requires almost no learning, except for new elements introduced frequently.

Replay Value 5/5

The further you proceed, the less fun it would be to start the game all over if your progress is lost. Luckily, there’s no need to replay the game from the beginning. Just connect your Facebook account, and the progress will be stored there. You can even switch platforms and then reauthorize: you’ll resume from where you stopped. The developers introduce new levels frequently in updates, so hardly will you ever run out of levels. In addition, you can replay past levels to improve your results.

The Bottom Line

Rarely you encounter such a popular and even memetic casual game as Candy Crush Saga. Its visual richness and simple gameplay have made millions of players happy with it. Available on most mobile devices and in the web version, it can sweeten up your leisure time the best way, and with no calories at all.
