Coin Master is a very specific hybrid of a slot machine game and an RPG, where you need to win coins to upgrade and attack other players. Not requiring much skill, it’s a highly popular casual game. Just download Coin Master for Android or iOS and learn why!

Graphics 4/5

Not that the game is a graphical masterpiece, but it’s quite decently tinting its addictive gameplay. Roughly drawn, with emphasized elements of certain cultures in the villages you build, it delivers the feel of the magic travel and the thrill of spinning the machine. The music is jolly and cheerful, but too repetitive. You can, though, turn it off in Settings and play something from your library instead.

Gameplay 5/5

Coin Muster is based mostly on luck, with little place left for strategy or skill. The basic part of the game is a colorful slot machine, displaying the avatar of the current leader – the Coin Master, and the anthropomorphic hog, the game’s mascot. Spins are free unless you run out of them. When you are done, you need to wait before your spins recover, or pop balloons flying up as you play. For any spin, you get a certain number of coins, or a chance to attack other players (or be attacked at their luck).

Attacking and robbing is a pleasant part of the game. You have your chances to destroy somebody’s buildings in the village or dig holes in the ground. If you are lucky, there is some money you can steal. It can be protected with a shield, though; then you get away with your 50K coins (quite a miserable reward), and your opponent loses nothing. Shields can be obtained from playing the slot machine.

Your progress is marked by the villages you build. You travel through countries and eras, building styled villages and upgrading objects in there. The complete upgrade brings you to the new level, where you unlock new features, like collecting cards and achievements.

Controls 5/5

The developers opted for the simplest solution: everything is tap-based, with no sophisticated combos or gestures, requiring no precise timing or immediate response. You just tap SPIN to spin, tap menu lines to go to your village, build, or upgrade your objects, and tap to send coins to friends. So there is no question “how”, even when you run it for the first time.

Replay Value 5/5

Despite its simplicity (or maybe due to it), the game is highly addictive. You cannot stop until you run out of spins, and maybe you’ll want to purchase more spins or coins. Even if you’re not that kind, you’ll wait impatiently until your spins are back. Who knows how the developers achieved this effect by introducing a little Clash of Clans into a simple slot machine. But the game will hold you trapped for long.

The Bottom Line

Coin Master is a surprisingly delivering game, extremely simple to play, with no graphical excessiveness, concentrated on easy, even mechanical gameplay. But it works somehow. If you need something very casual, to play for five or ten minutes a day, Coin Master is quite an option. Watch your villages grow, as you spin!
