This could have been much simpler, but King never spares effort to make even simple puzzles look vivid and detailed. Though the board is mostly static, almost any element of the game is alive. The colorful blocks are easy to tell and hard to confuse. And the pets are extremely cute, motivating you to rescue them quicker. This artful attention to detail is what we love games by King for.

This block puzzle exploits the element used in other games. The pets are caught on top of block construction. To rescue them, you need to help them down to the ground, with no block left above. And to do so, you need to remove all the blocks between these pets and the ground. Sometimes it’s harder than it seems.

There are various levels: some of them introduce new blocks as you remove the old, some don’t. Some offer a plain board; some are complicated with extra constructions on your way. Walls and bridges are the obstacles to avoid; luckily, you have bonuses and powerups as well, and if you apply them smart, they will help you out.

Each new world, containing many levels, introduces new elements of gameplay. Each level you pass is rated from 1 to 3 stars. If you want to improve your results, return to the level and replay it. Doesn’t it remind you anything?

It’s even simpler than in most block puzzles. All you need to do to remove a group of blocks is tap on it. To use a bonus powerup (say, a rocket), you need to drag it where you want it to be activated and tap the green button. There are always instructions as you activate a powerup. As for the main menu, it resembles that of Candy Crush Saga (the game King is known for), with just a tap required to enter the level.

Replay Value 4/5

As for strict replay, hardly will you want to restart it from the very beginning, with simpler missions and fewer powerups. But if you mean proceeding, that’s a different story; the game puts a hold on you and doesn’t let go. Switching devices (and even platforms) is no tragedy, as the game can sync your progress to your Facebook account.

It’s another hit by King, maybe not as memetic as its another game, but still extremely popular. Since its release in January 2014, Pet Rescue Saga attracted millions of players and gained thousands of reviews, mostly positive. You don’t have to buy coins to accelerate your pace, but you may, if you wish.
