What a cute app design! It’s mainly black and white, but it looks like a sketch. There’s a main character who looks like Eva from Wall-E — a small hovering robot that helps you to use the app. There are no unnecessary buttons and screens here — everything is clean, sleek and usable. There's cute and meaningful animation and there's also a great looking option of mapping your home.

It’s pretty easy to use this app since the beginning. All you need to do first is to have a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection and to put your robot at the Home Base. Then press two buttons on the robot, and the app will handle the rest. The main button that you’ll need here is CLEAN on the home screen. But you can do so much more with this app. For example, you can schedule your cleaning, choose how many times you want your robot to clean the room and other cool hi-tech features that are super easy to use with buttons’ captions, pop-up hints from your Eva-like character and full-blown instructions. You can even learn about your robot, how it works, and what's inside it. One of the coolest things is that you can see the layout of your house here and find out where your robot is now.

Basically, this app is the substitute for your Roomba or Braava’s remote controls. So with this app, you can turn your robots on and off, get them back to Home Base, clean a certain room in a certain direction, etc. There are also notifications and all kinds of stats and history available, so you know everything about your cleaning routine. You can also find the robot with it and get help from the support if needed.

This app is free to use, and there are no in-app purchases available. The only thing you can buy through it is more iRobot products. Click on the top left menu icon and then tap on the Internet store icon, and you'll be redirected to its web page.

The Bottom Line

Overall iRobot HOME is a great app! It's easy, it's usable, it's absolutely necessary if you have corresponding Roomba and/or Braava. The best thing is that it's obvious that the brand fully invested in this app and didn't just make it on the side because they had to. You can feel the love at the core of this app, starting from its design to how it improves your cleaning. You'll enjoy using it.
