Calorie Counter - MyFitnessPal
MyFitnessPal is one of the most popular nutrition diaries for various platforms. With it you can track your meals for calories, fats, hydrocarbons and proteins, your water consumption, your physical activity, your weight and so on. You can download fMyFitnessPal for iOS or Android and try a new conscious way of eating!
Design 4/5
It’s a multi-tabbed diary with a microblog, a weight log, a nutrition diary built-in, and lots of features to explore. It will take you probably more than one day to figure everything out, but it’s worth this. There are quick buttons to add food and water, and your activity is tracked constantly.
Usability 4/5
The main feature of the app is nutrition control. To make a new record, you can type the name of your food and find it in the database or scan its barcode with a built-in camera. If the product is not available, you can submit it yourself by filling its info. When you make a record, you automatically add to your daily plan this product, with its energy value, proteins, fats, and hydrocarbons.
Enter your personal information: age, height, weight, gender, and the desired weight and pace. The app will calculate your daily calories that you shouldn’t max (or, if you want to gain weight, you need to consume at least).
Apple Watch users can enjoy the wrist version of the app that displays the most critical data. As for Wear OS, it only whows you notifications from MyFitnessPal. But any wearable device can be used as the source for your step data (or your activity at all).
Features 5/5
The app lets you track your weight you add manually or import from other apps, like MiFit or Withings. You can import the data on your activity from other apps, like Google/Apple Health, or interact with other health apps.
And yes, the app has its own blog with recommendations and recipes, so you can control your nutrition and weight, still eating tasty foods.
In-app purchases 4/5
The basic version of the app is free. But you can subscribe to Pro version, and this will get you more features. Premium makes the app ad-free, it unlocks new recipes, lets you export your history files, view weekly digests, and set up calorie goals more exactly. The premium subscription will cost you $9.99 monthly, or $49.99 a year. Good news: it will pay if you tame your eating habits with it.
Conclusion
MyFitnessPal won’t be your motivation, but if are motivated, it makes the perfect tool for tracking your progress to your goals. It simplifies calorie control and sets the red lines you shouldn’t cross; within these limes you can feel free.
