Hobby Lobby is an app that makes your buying at the Hobby Lobby store experience a little easier. Use it to find weekly deals and discounts, use the coupons at the store to save some cash on your favorite products.

You can download Hobby Lobby for iOS 8.0 or later and Android 5.0 or later, although it might not be compatible with some Android devices.

The design is rather underwhelming — you’ve seen better. Keeping in mind that it’s an app from the craft store where creativeness finds its place, you’d expect to see a better design or at least more fun colors to look at. But here you see only a boring blue and white grid with an uninteresting menu. The fonts look OK, though, they’re a little bit more creative. The app looks the same as an HL’s web site.

The main purpose of this Hobby Lobby review is to tell you that you can’t make purchases with it online. It’ll redirect you to their web site. So there’s not a lot of benefits of using this app because it has much fewer features than their web page. You don't save your time which is true for most of the other stores’ apps.

It’s better to use this app for some quick DIYs that you can find on the bottom menu. Check out some of the new techniques you can use to create a new handmade project using Hobby Lobby’s goods.

One of the most important features of this app is to find deals and discounts. So the main buttons are on top of the Home menu: Coupon and Weekly Ad. The app developer says that you can use them both in their offline and online stores. This is definitely not true because either it doesn’t work at all or the store doesn’t accept this offer, saying something like ‘'There has been a mistake'’. Also, it’s sad that you have to wait for deals the entire week, and the ones that are available to you are obviously paid by the brands (that’s why it’s called ‘'Weekly AD'’). Meaning that the discount was made after they increased the price knowing that they’ll appear in your weekly offer.

There are no purchases available in the app. As mentioned before, it’s impossible even to buy products from this store online. You can’t buy an ads-free version of the app either. 

The Bottom Line

The only two things that this app is actually good for is to quickly check your Hobby Lobby’s gift card balance and to find the nearest HL store. It’s easier to use the app for this than the web site because it takes much less time downloading the needed info. Although, you don’t get the full details on the nearest store, e.g. you don’t see their exact assortment of goods, so you might not find something you need once you actually go there.
