ArcheAge: Unchained
ArcheAge: Unchained is a brand new role-playing MMO game by XLGAMES released by Trion World on October 17, 2019. It offers you to settle in a massive universe inhabited by 6 diverse races. You can choose to be whatever you like and explore the world on your two, ride fable vehicles, command battleships, fly tame dragons, and more. To download ArcheAge: Unchained for Windows, visit Steam.
Graphics – 5/5
As for an MMO experience, ArcheAge: Unchained game looks impressively smooth. The engine enables a realistic day/night cycle, rather sharp textures with flash unloading. Characters and the environment are highly detailed so that you can spend hours just trying on various items and combining them to gain the best look. There are no “so-so” locations and elements, which reveal the hard work of developers.
Gameplay – 4.5/5
ArcheAge: Unchained gameplay is a bit raw at places because the title has just quit Steam Early Access. However, it’s still a fascinating world to explore due to a large variety of content. There’s always somewhere to go and something to look for, and everything feels very rewarding. The style of ArcheAge combines many original elements and thousands of reinvented things. Some creatures remind The Lord of the Rings (there’s even a local parody on The Sheer, while the others look like scenes from The Pirates of The Caribean or Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. Some players enjoy it a lot, while others consider it a lack of imagination. It’s up to you to decide, anyway. It tries to be everything for everyone, but only time will show if it’s worth it.
Controls – 4.5/5
Similarly to the vast majority of MMO’s out there, ArcheAge: Unchained latest version involves a galaxy of mechanics that require numerous buttons to work. That’s why you must hide your favorite controller if you hoped to plug it in here. Prepare to learn a handful of keys. Fortunately, they’re all adjustable.
Replay Value – 5/5
ArcheAge: Unchained full game will be endless for sure. There’s so much content already, that you can spend here weeks without facing the shortage. Moreover, it’s mainly focused on interactions with real players and a myriad of NPCs, so you won’t have time for boredom. If you feel wrong, try to change your race of class. There are 220 classes, so you’ll definitely find the one.
The Bottom Line
ArcheAge: Unchained MMO is a promising franchise with an enormous amount of content and events for you to participate in. The lion’s share of the action is created by players, meaning that you can use your imagination and change the world around. For this ArcheAge: Unchained review, we compared the Early Access version with the release build and the verdict is satisfying. Developers made a good try to catch players with diversity, but it’s still not clear if the struggle was worth it.
