Google Docs
Google Docs is a cloud-based word-processing application from the G-Suite free office setup. In this app, you can create, view, and edit text documents with images and interactive objects, including Microsoft Word DOCX files. This app has online and offline modes so that you could write anywhere you go, even if there’s no Internet connection. You can download Google Docs for iOS on App Store and Android on Play Market.
Design – 5/5
Google Docs latest version looks very simple at first sight, and it really is. There’s a convenient file browser that displays all files on your cloud and device, including DOC and DOCX. Press the plus button in the right bottom corner to create a new one and start writing. All editing features are hidden before you select a word, sentence, or paragraph. The toolbox is divided into 3 sections for font, paragraph, and table settings.
Usability – 5/5
The Google Docs app is an excellent on-the-go solution if you are accustomed to web service. It’s a full-featured word-processing application that provides all basic writing and formatting options. Of course, it’s not as versatile as Microsoft Word, but it’s much more flexible and at some points more reliable. First of all, it goes to the real-time saving feature. No matter what happens to the app or device that you use, all files will be saved on the place where you stopped. Unlike the web version, the offline editing is available by default in the app. You can create or edit several docs, and they will be automatically loaded into your cloud drive as soon as you reach the nearest WiFi or switch 3G on.
Features – 5/5
Google Docs is a cloud-based word processor that provides basic text-editing features. It supports a proprietary format and the most common DOCX format. It allows you to work online and offline, and collaborate on documents in teams, no matter what devices collaborators use at the moment. We tried to write in the same doc from an iPad, Mac, and iPhone to test the feature for this Google Docs review. It worked out well, except annoying shakes caused by actions of collaborators.
In-app Purchases – 5/5
Google Docs and all other services of the G-Suite, including Google Sheets and Drive are available for free. You don’t have to purchase a subscription to get access to all functions. A Google account is enough for everything. This app is not supported by ads, so you won’t be interrupted during work.
The Bottom Line
Google Docs is the best free word-processing application ever. It’s a part of the huge online environment by Google, which provides vast space for solo and team creativity. This app is enough for all basic writing and editing needs and allows you to elaborate on documents from different devices without the need to save or share them.
Real-time saving into the cloud;
Convenient editing;
All features are free.
Simultaneous editing may work with glitches.
