Graphics – 4.5/5
Act of War: Direct Action game was initially released by THQ in 2005, and it used to look brilliant in those days. Developers tried to make it look as realistic as possible, and the result is perfect. Today, you won’t find anything like that amongst glossy modern indies. These guys have squeezed available technologies to the physical maximum, and you should consider it before leaving feedback.
Gameplay – 5/5
Act of War: Direct Action RTS game is based on the NYTimes best-selling eponymous book by Dale Brown, so you can be sure that the story is detailed and logical. Act of War: Direct Action gameplay includes commanding military units with realistic physical properties so that you can feel the toughness of combat. Battles generally take place within the urban setting of a USA megapolis. It means that you must make your strategy depending on numerous buildings and other terrain characteristics, so do your enemies. Although the game is quite old, it involves detailed destruction of the environment with excellent effects. After passing the campaign, you can jump into a special multiplayer operation with up to 7 of your friends. We tried to use automatic matchmaking for this Act of War: Direct Action review, but the game didn’t find any alive servers. You can create your own anyway.
Controls – 4.5/5
Act of War: Direct Action PC version has responsive click controls. Everything you need to play is a mouse. There are not that many commands to enable keyboard shortcuts or something. Gamepad input isn’t available, though, you may try to make it if you’re familiar with special software.
Replay Value – 4.5/5
Act of War: Direct Action full game campaign is excellent. It’s rich, vivid, and immersive, so you’re guaranteed to have several hours of fun. When it comes to the multiplayer, things go a bit worse. It’s almost impossible to catch people online, so you’ll have to put some effort and reach them out on forums.
The Bottom Line
This strategy is worth attention if you’re a fan of the genre or love the nostalgic feeling from playing the early 2000’s titles. Act of War: Direct Action system requirements are very low, so it’s also a great time killer for low-end computers. It’s not obligatory to have the latest PC to play good games!
