Let’s start with the fact that the visuals are more than impressive. Even though the general picture is dark most of the time, still, when you manage to see some images, the picture is bright and clear. Moreover, your dark adventure in the world of the totally scared little kid becomes more and more believable as you progress.

In the middle of the night, you, as a child, wake up to see that your mom has been abducted by some kind of monsters and, as a result, you’re left on your own. Not completely alone though, because by your side you have a teddy bear, which becomes your only friend who you can rely on. When you wake up, he warns you that something is not right and now it’s time to figure out what’s happening. Here’s where the dark adventure of the scared, defenseless child begins.
You’re a toddler, but you’re capable enough to escape your nursery in order to find your mother. The journey ahead gives childlike anxiety, but you don’t have any choice other than moving forward. You need to hide in wardrobes, which easily turn into thrilling never-ending labyrinths. When you get to playgrounds, they miraculously manage to become a vast wilderness where it’s difficult to find a place for hiding.
The game is creepier than scary, and the sound design immensely adds to the whole atmosphere of the psychological tension. The presence of a teddy bear is comforting, but all the knocks on wood, discordant sounds, and distant chimes will definitely give you enough of unsettling and threatening feelings.

In general, there’s nothing complicated in controlling the movements of the toddler. Yet, the mechanics could be more sophisticated. You can easily hide in tight places, crawl under the items of furniture, but you won’t be able to use your hands then. The interesting thing is that you can crawl faster than you can run or even walk.

Here we have the game, which can influence your psyche, both positively and negatively. Not everyone can bear the tension, and the scary journey may traumatize some people. Yet, in a way, the game can be therapeutic. If you’re one of those gamers who did enjoy the game, you will definitely want to play Among the Sleep over and over again.
