Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare is an exciting sci-fi shooter spectacle available in a singleplayer mode, tense multiplayer for up to 18 people or co-op with four players zombie shooting.

Call of Duty releases new series each year and almost all of them were successful steps to the game’s progressive future. Right after the preview of this new part was released, it got lots of reviews and was immediately considered as the most controversial part of the series. Someone liked it, others called it the stupidest. Anyways, Infinite Warfare has something to like about it as well as dislike. Let’s see what it’s like!

Graphics 5/5

One of the most often discussed issues was the game’s engine. Someone thinks that it is outdated and needs some improvements badly, while others enjoy the graphics even with the old one. However, as for me, the picture in the new Call of Duty looks incredible even though it works on the current engine. The game’s locations make me speechless, and the animation fascinates the look. You won’t have to wander only through the dark corridors or terrifying buildings. The gameplay takes you into space and offers you to enjoy unearthly views of distant planets as well as actively participating in various battles.

The game’s visuals are beautiful and highly realistic. The moment with the landing on Titan shows you how hard the developers have been working to make this game as detailed as possible. Titan is located close to Sol and has an extra high temperature on its surface; thus while you’re running around its surface you can see how realistic your spacesuit fumes and melts on you. Whenever you’re done with watching, you’ll have to cover yourself from the sun hiding in the shadows or wait until something blocks the light.

However, there is one flow that disappoints me about the graphics - a poor facial animation of almost each character. Their eyes look lifeless, and it feels like the faces were made from plastic. Unfortunately, only a few main characters have natural looks.

Gameplay 4.5/5

The game’s cosmic storyline is quite primitive: Earth is out of resources, and the human race decides to move further and explore the solar system and create a new world. So this is the way the UNSA world was formed. But, of course, an evil faction was also created at the same time and named the Settlement Defence Front with a Kit Harrington’s character as a leader.

Infinite Warfare offers you three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.

The main campaign's protagonist is Captain Reyes. He is a regular pilot who becomes a combat space ship’s commander almost in the beginning of the game and leads the surviving forces of the coalition in all fights against a fanatic and ruthless adversary. You’ll also get a friend who is basically a robot but reveals himself as an individual. He is Ethan: laughs all the time and thinks that robots with limited intelligence are idiots. But Ethan evolves through the game, improves his character and shows that he plays an important role in this game.

There are also additional quests besides the main Martian problems. Some of them are short missions and do not affect the main storyline in any way and still interesting to check them out.

The multiplayer mode adds an intuitive motion system based on impulses, more detailed map design, wider options for customization and a new ultimate combat system that creates an intense gameplay and gives you a unique experience. There you can choose totally different styles to play, and you’ll have to unlock and customize calling cards, camos, emblems as well as weapons.

In Zombies, you will go back into the 1980s and play an exciting arcade in the amusement park with plenty of rides including a funky rollercoaster. Power-ups, new models of weapons, brand-new team mechanics and other innovations as Fate and Fortune Cards will wait for you there.

Controls 4/5

The controls in Infinite Warfare are pretty intuitive, and therefore all combats feel satisfying especially in those tightly-structured environments. I’ve noticed yet any strange lags or weird default binding conflicts. The controls are regular as for Call of Duty: the CTRL button is for crouching and running, the F button is a “use” key, middle mouse as grenades, etc. You can also redefine them if you want to.

Replay Value 4/5

Each year there is a new part of Call of Duty appears, so you have about one year to try out and thoroughly enjoy the gameplay until another even more interesting sequel is launched. Infinite Warfare has a lot of modes that came from the previous Call of Duty’s parts, but there are also a lot of new moments like combinations of classes and models of exoskeletons. You will find there enough content to play for many hours if you like the typical Call of Duty network mode, of course.

In-app purchases

You can buy Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for about $70 or purchase a Digital Legacy or Digital Deluxe Edition separately. There is also a Call of Duty - The Definitive Collection available which includes all the game modes in itself.

Conclusion

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is like a great Hollywood blockbuster. Yes, again. It’s being launching each year with the same engine for a long-long time, but the game still looks great. It does have a bit stupid artificial intelligence of enemies, but it also has the famous movie and serial stars in the lead roles.

Even though the gameplay is typical for Call of Duty and feels outdated because all you need to do is running and shooting, the game still has some interesting mechanics to try out like dynamic cosmic battles, skirmishes in open space, stealth in the Hitman’s style and other.

Infinite Warfare is a nice progressive step for the game and it won’t disappoint millions of gamers that were waiting for the next series of a worldwide phenomenon Call of Duty.
