Last Oasis
Last Oasis is a multiplayer survival game with an original concept: in the apocalyptic world, where the Earth's rotation is halted, you have to fight for scarce resources. Download the Last Oasis and avoid being killed by other nomads.
Graphics 4/5
It would be an exaggeration to claim Last Oasis app is a visual masterpiece, but it definitely creates an original and appealing atmosphere, despite using rather common instruments. The world design is a smart combination of familiar and unfamiliar elements: we've seen a desert with occasional oases in hundreds of video games, but we've never traversed it on wooden, wind-powered machines. Things like this make the Last Oasis specs not that demanding while retaining the overall picture quality.
Gameplay 4/5
The developers describe this Last Oasis demo (the game is still in Early Access) as a nomadic MMO, and that seems to catch its essence perfectly. As a result of a global cataclysm, Earth has stopped its rotation, leaving the surface divided between two deadly extremes. There is only a narrow region in the middle that can support life, so you have to build your own wind-powered desert walker to walk there and fight for territory with other nomads.
However, the Last Oasis gameplay is not limited to surviving. Of course, you have to look for water and spare parts to craft weapons, build your base and fend off pirates. But the game has many other options: the player-driven economy allows you to become a merchant – or a raider. And there is so much social, clan-oriented content that it becomes crucial to find yourself a party. The only problem is that the game is far from being solo-friendly, despite what the developers seem to claim.
Controls 4/5
The interface seems to follow the overall design principles, combining familiar things like clan chat and crafting menus with innovative features, including the interactive Wasteland map that helps you travel across it. All in all, it's pretty easy to get used to the Last Oasis MMO game controls, so it can be recommended even to those who've never played any similar multiplayer games.
Replay Value 3/5
While many similar online projects fight to attract and hold their audience, they don't seem to have high replay values: once you've seen the top-end content, all you can do is wait for DLCs. The logic applies to the Last Oasis online game, too. After you've played it for a while, starting it again makes little sense, if only you are not going to explore some peculiar gameplay aspects specifically.
The Bottom Line
Original and deep, Last Oasis offers a surprising variety of gameplay options. Download the Last Oasis and conquer the Wasteland with your clan.
Nice gameplay;
Great graphics;
Neat interface.
Occasional bugs.
