Pine
Pine is a role-playing action-adventure game with a procedurally generated open-world universe. At the same time, it’s a simulation of a world in which humans are not powerful enough to reach the top of the food chain because some other species also know how to build, forge, and wage wars. You can download Pine for Windows PC, Mac OS, Nintendo Switch, Linux, Xbox One, and PS4.
Graphics – 5/5
Pine game presents a picturesque universe with a diverse range of terrains. Here you can make it through dense forests, explore caves, and hike mountains. Pine doesn’t try to look realistic because of a wide range of fable creatures and cartoony people. Nevertheless, it’s level of detalization is fantastic as well as physics, day/night cycle lighting, and the deepness of locations.
Gameplay – 5/5
Pine gameplay revolves around the free-roaming exploration of the Albamare world. You play Hue, a brave young man, who is smart and prepared well enough to deal with extraordinary challenges that may come on his way. He’s also a lot into trading stuff, mining resources, and putting them together to craft better gear. However, many creatures managed to evolve into much mightier entities than humans. That’s why you always have to learn and make sure that you have enough load to enter particular territories. Some creatures can just stomp Hue once, and he dies.
On the other hand, he’s relatively small and agile, which provides him with many advantages during battles with heavy buddies. Your main mission is to find a new home for the tribe to save the human race. There’s no one to help you with that just because you need it, so you’ll have to talk and bribe a lot to reach agreements as well as serve other tribes to gain authority and support.
Controls – 5/5
Pine PC version includes the standard keyboard and mouse input and borrows the full controller support from console versions. During tests for this Pine review, we tried Dualshock 3 and 4 as well as the Xbox One controller. Both sets work well with Mac and PC. Console versions (we have one for Switch) are perfectly optimized, as well.
Replay Value – 5/5
It’s hard to count how much time you will need to explore the entire world of the Pine full game. There are so many races, locations, and side quests that you can bury yourself in your room for a couple of months with a good supply of sweets and pizza. There’s no multiplayer mode, though, it doesn’t feel like something is absent.
The Bottom Line
Pine is recommended to all RPG fans, who seek an original vivid cross-platform title that doesn’t just combine features of The Witcher, Dragon Age, and Diablo. It’s comparable to Zelda, maybe, but the lore and impressions are totally different.
Complex relationship system with realistic logics;
Six different biospheres;
Unforgettable atmosphere.
Some mistakes of the bets remain unfixed.
