Brutal TD is a minimalist retro-style tower defense game. Unlike most other tower defense games Brutal TD mixes elements of classic space shooters, and has you in complete control of your tower. Unlike traditional tower defense titles, you can choose what enemies to fire at, which enemies you prioritize, and more. Each level of Brutal TD gets progressively more challenging and has different enemy types, wave types, and wave sizes. Most levels feature a uber block boss at the end of the level or an enemy planet. Brutal TD mixes the best part of classic retro space shooters mixed with tower defense.

Make your way through over 30 levels and multiple solar systems. Fight your way to the end of the story to take over the galaxy.

Brutal TD uses unique shaders to help mimic a CRT effect on any size screen complete with scan lines. The game is built from the ground up to help it look and feel like an old-school retro game from the 80s. Some levels feature different filters/effects for a stylized experience.

Each level has unique chip/synth tunes composed just for that level. If you like the music in the trailer, you will love the music in this game.

A mouse and keyboard are recommended to play, but the game does have full controller support and native support for the Steam Deck (including while docked).

Brutal TD is balanced to be a difficult challenge, but rewards the player as you advance and get used to enemy types, paths, and attack patterns. Levels feature random enemy spawn points for replay value and to keep you from getting too comfortable on each replay.

There are:

Tons of different enemy types with different movement paths.
Unique enemies that steal resources or disable upgrades instead of just damaging you.
Tons of upgrades.
Different randomized item drops.
Different helper towers that auto-fire, help fabricate resources, and more.
Different bosses, some with multiple forms.
Rogue enemy planets to defeat and a solar system to conquer.
Over 30 levels with awesome chip/synth tunes.
Over 15 Challenge levels that take the original difficulty and crank it to the max.
Unlockable cosmetic items that you can only get by beating bosses and grinding points.
An unlockable level editor (after beating level 24, you can also press L on the main screen to get to it before beating level 24)
Tons of achievements to unlock. Show off your skill with truly brutally difficult to unlock achievements.
