Outward
Outward is a fantasy role-playing game with an open world. It can be a single RPG, or you can have fun by playing it with your friends. It is possible to download Outward for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Graphics 4/5
The graphics of the Outward do not disappoint, it is fairly good. Characters and surroundings are well-drawn, and everything on the screen moves smoothly. Occasionally, we can find some beautiful views and scenes, but overall the graphics look a bit out-of-date. But at the same time, it allows the game to have lower system requirements and makes it less demanding.
Gameplay 5/5
Outward is a game with a focus on survival. You don’t play for some kind of a hero or a chosen one, but rather for just an ordinary character that lives to pay off his family’s debt. He can explore the open world, face different challenges and go on adventures. You have to mind your character’s survival aspects such as eating, sleeping, keeping warm, resting and healing. You can get the character killed not only in a battle with threatening creatures but because of infectious diseases and hazardous environmental conditions. It is not an easy game, and you have to be cunning and clever to be able to plan your actions. You can play Outward by yourself, but it is much more interesting to play with friends. Also, it can be played with a split screen locally or online.
Controls 5/5
Outward does not have extremely difficult controls; however you have to think in advance in order to play the game successfully. In addition, Outward’s open world is constantly saving itself, which means that it’s impossible to go back and change something. You have to live with your decisions, and your choices become more significant. It makes the game more challenging and interesting when you know that there is no turning back.
Replay Value 4/5
Role-playing games with open worlds usually have a high level of replayability. It is because such games offer many possibilities to explore and travel around various locations. It means that every time you play the game, your experience is unique and new. But as for Outward, its open world seems somewhat empty. It’s not filled with interesting quests and minor characters to make the story more exciting and action-packed.
The Bottom Line
Outward is an RPG that focuses on survival. During the game, players face various challenges that can be deeply rewarding. Outward offers multiple paths, and each of them brings you different adventures. You can cast spells, perform multi-step rituals and explore the land while surviving in the wild and keeping up with your basic needs. Going on risky expeditions and surviving in the deadly world of Aurai is quite a challenge that will give you a unique experience.
