Farming Simulator 17 game is a sequel of the farming franchise from Giants Software that was launched at first in 2013.  After that, the sequels appear regularly every two years for PC and console. So Farming Simulator 17 is the same simulation game but with some new features and improvements in which you drive various farming vehicles, grow crops and livestock, and manage all financial aspects of a farm. If you like a gradual and meditative gameplay - this game is for you.

Graphically Farming Simulator 17 looks amazing, and its visuals are on the decent level. All the vehicles in the game look highly realistic and scrupulously detailed. Moreover, everything moves like the real prototypes. The graphics look so photogenic that you might feel like you’re watching a telecast about a real farm.

Farming Simulator 17 has a new lighting system, tessellation support and much more. Not only machines have become more detailed, but buildings were also improved and such little moments appeared as pedestrians on the streets, mushrooms in the forest, new areas on the map, etc.

However, there are a few issues with animation. You’ll likely notice that from the first minutes of playing, especially if you’re looking at the trees or animals. They don’t look as realistic as they could and need to be improved badly.

Farming Simulator 17 is designed more for newbies in farming who doesn’t know any basics, than for real experienced farmers who will unlikely have time on playing such games. Your primary goal in Farming Simulator is to buy all the available fields and make your farm as large as possible. But before you start the creation of the own farm, you need to decide which area of agriculture to develop. You can sow fields and sell crops, breed cattle, and poultry or become engaged in forestry. Of course, you can do as many activities as you want simultaneously, but in that case, you’ll need to spend most all of your free time in the game.

In Farming Simulator 17 the economic model plays an important role, so you need to build your strategy as well as model and make every step wisely: from grass mowing to selling pigs. You can find in the menu a couple of useful tabs with your statistics of expenses and incomes; it can be quite helpful for you to monitor them sometimes. There is also a training mode that is available for you anytime. So in case you have missed something, go there and find answers to any questions.

In Farming Simulator 17 you have an opportunity to help out your neighbor farmers by completing tasks for them. That way you can make some extra cash and open a wider variety of missions.

You can also modify any agricultural equipment: improve separate parts like engines and wheels, change colors or add some details. In addition, any vehicle can not only be purchased or modified but also rented.

Detailed settings of the game allow you to adjust all the game parameters as you need. Farming Simulator 17 even has a colorblind mode.

The game controls became more convenient to manage, and they are still as intuitive as before. So with the updated controls, it became easier to drive in-game vehicles and avoid various obstacles on the way. It might feel like the dev team has spent a lot of time on improving control parameters.

Farming Simulator 17 is a modified and expanded version of a previous part. It can be updated regularly from the main menu. But I can’t tell that this game will keep your interest for a long time. All you have to do is to sow fields, get a harvest, make money from it and start over again. Yes, you can buy advanced equipment and hire workers when you have enough money, and it will simplify your working process, but the game’s strategy won’t change significantly. It’s as repetitive as it is.

There is a multiplayer mode available in the game, so Farming Simulator 17 can be more exciting and fun to play if you invite your friends to join you or just cooperate with some random players.

In-app purchases

Farming Simulator is pricey. It costs about $35 and has a few additional packs for $15 each. But the price can be explained by the fact that the game does not have a lot of analogs in its genre. Therefore, those players who want to build own farm will spend the necessary amount easily and enjoy the game thoroughly.

Conclusion

Farming Simulator 17 is not a right choice for fans of dynamic gameplays because this game is slow-paced and repetitive and requires from you well thought out steps as well as a good strategy. It has some new features to the series, such as female character,  a few new crops, expanded multiplayer mode, but that’s pretty it. Anyways, if you’ve played the previous series of this game, then you will definitely enjoy this sequel.
