Graphics 5/5
The graphics of Getting Over It are something extraordinary and hard to describe. In the Getting Over It review, we must mention that the graphics are well made, with every detail on its place. It looks too simple for a philosophical game but too complex for a simulator. Everything is gloomy, with one mountain illuminated. The background is dark green with mountains silhouettes far away. While the whole picture looks creepy, it probably has a message inside.
Gameplay 5/5
Getting Over It gameplay was awarded at Independent Games Festival in 2018. Numerous games portal called it the most creative and interesting, while still being one of the weirdest. Getting Over It game topped several charts in 2017 and 2018.
There is a linear story about Diogenes, a silent man, who is sitting in a big metal cauldron and moving with the help of Yosemite hammer. Diogenes figure definitely has something similar to Sisyphus, the character from Greek mythology whose main punishment after death became constantly roll a huge boulder up the hill. And name Diogenes is also the name of the famous Greek philosopher who lived in a ceramic jar.
You have to lead Diogenes to the top of the mountain whirling the hammer to grip objects and move from place to place. Each time you miss, you lose everything. There is no backup. When you die, there are no checkpoints, and you have to start from the beginning.
Controls 4/5
Getting Over It iOS version was released in 2017. Getting Over It Android version came out in 2018. Originally the game was made for PC and apparently it was easy to control your moves with a mouse. You have to learn how to move a man using only his upper body through the mountains. The rocky road is making the experience even harder.
Replay Value 4/5
The bad news about Getting Over It game is that you don’t have time to train, and if you die, you have to start from the beginning. This means that while the plot is linear, you still have to repeat your actions again and again until you will be able to climb on top of the mountain. And after everything you’ve done, there is a really weird finish. Some gamers just leave the game after several attempts.
