The game is based on the film franchise of the same name and is playable on PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. Naturally, the design was almost fully borrowed from the film. Multiple grumpy buildings, confined suffocating spaces, dark corners look realistic so much that you really get into the scary atmosphere of the game. Obviously, visuals that include blood are also gruesome and full of gore.

Let us start our Friday the 13th: The Game review with the statement that this is a video game, which is by far one of the best titles of the horror genre. Invincible Jason Voorhees is an iconic force of murder who is the highlight of this epic asymmetrical multiplayer. There are fourteen playable counselors in the game, but in one session, up to eight people can play.

The gameplay is straightforward. Jason is hunting to kill while counselors are escaping to survive. The main antagonist is literally unstoppable, and he gets new abilities in the course of the match. In movies, it seems that Jason mysteriously appears in several places at once and this feature was transferred into the game. When you play this character, you feel powerful and totally in control of what’s happening.

There are three maps available, each of which corresponds to one of three movies. Communication is very important for the survival of counselors. They must cooperate tightly to figure out how to escape and avoid being ruthlessly killed.

There are six playable Jasons but no matter which version of the killer is hunting you, be sure that there will be a lot of gore if you as a prey become unlucky enough to cross the path of the merciless murderer.

Controls are simple for those who are familiar with this type of games. Yet, if you’re new to it, make sure to know what keys to use before you jump into playing. One must remember that when you meet cold-blooded Jason, you won’t have a second to think about what to do next.

If you happen to play Jason, you will be more inclined to come back for more gaming, but if you keep being one of the counselors, you might find the game a bit frustrating. Still, no matter who you play as, the game is addictive, especially to those who are fans of the film franchise.
