Haunt the House: Terrortown
Haunt the House: Terrortown is a creepy but cute game, in which you play as a mischievous little ghost. When the night falls, you leave your home in an old clock tower to wander around the town and scare its inhabitants. You can download Haunt the House: Terrortown if you have Windows XP (minimum) or Mac OS X v10.6.
Graphics 5/5
The graphics are colorful, cute, and cartoon-like. This gently wipes out the whole spooky atmosphere and creates the fun feeling of being mischievous in a harmless way. We love all the little animations because they’re so adorable, creative, and quirky.
Gameplay 4/5
The idea behind the game is that you need to scare people in the town for the mere fun of it. There are several playable ghosts, and each one of them has a unique style and signature howling. You can possess objects and interact with them, making town people running away terrified. You don’t need to kill humans, but you just scare them until they have their eyes and mouth wide open.
Your main goal is to make the atmosphere increasingly spooky and clear every living soul out of a certain area. If you terrify the inhabitants enough to leave, they’ll run out through one of the doors. If you scare them too much they’ll just jump out of a window. As you apply your spooks, you fill up your scare meter and unlock new scare options for objects.
Each location has a number of spooks to discover and collect. The game includes achievements some of which are in fact quite challenging. The special attention should be paid to the soundtrack, which is fitting and catchy.
Controls 4/5
It’s very easy to figure out how to control the actions of the ghost but if you struggle or simply want to be fully ready for your spooky night adventure, check out the available tutorial to know all you can do to accomplish your mission of terrifying everyone in the town.
Replay Value 3/5
The game is a great time-waster; it’s fun and easy to play. However, we felt that there’s not as much of replay value as we expected because, with time, the game might seem to become slightly tedious. When the main challenge becomes easy to overcome, the game can be played just for the sake of playing, for the great animation, and a wonderful soundtrack.
The Bottom Line
As you can see from our Haunt the House: Terrortown review, we love the unique concept behind this title, so we totally recommend this quirky game to anyone who’s into ghost theme. The game gives a genuine sense of mischief, which makes the whole experience addictive and entertaining.
