Professional Review

The Forest is a first person thrilling survival horror where you turn out to be in a beautiful Open world after your plane crashes on an island. The only problem is that evil cannibals occupy it and you only have an ax, a survival book, and some knowledge of the land. You are forced to find food and water, build a secure shelter, craft weapons, and find other survivors to stay alive as long as possible. While doing that, you are in a constant threat of being killed by cannibals.

Graphics 5/5

There’s nothing to complain about speaking of the graphics. The Forest has everything to impress you — high-quality textures, top-notch lighting effects, and well-made models.

The graphics engine is easily customizable. You can change various settings to your preferences to make the game even more appealing to you. Except for the standard configurations, you can customize:

  • Sunshine Occlusion;
  • Depth Of Field;
  • Ocean Quality;
  • Film Grain;
  • Far Shadows;
  • Color Grading, etc.

The Forest is beautiful. You’ll see the sun piercing the trees and the rays hitting the ground in the early evening and morning. The sights in this game are astonishing.

Apart from the visuals, The Forest is also full of technical configurations that you can make to experience the best performance possible with your system. So, the game is available for a wide range of gamers.

Gameplay 4,5/5

In the beginning, you will be near a plane trying to collect as many items as possible before the first cannibals come for you. It will get your blood pumping. After you gather the supplies, check the crafting manual to create some simple structures and stay alive a couple of hours longer. You’ll be able to make a fire and a small shelter.

The Forest is not only about creating items or buildings. For example, you’ll hunt the animals, cook them, and perform a lot of other challenging tasks in order to survive. Plus, there’s a multiplayer mode in The Forest. You will be able to set up a game with your friends and build together.

The game offers a lot of captivating features as for an Early Access game. It offers a robust and interesting blend of gameplay pace and features. All these facts distinct The Forest from other games in its genre.

Controls 4,5/5

The controls are not hard to understand. Just use your mouse and the keyboard. To find out, how to create things, look at your crafting manual. After you get to grips with the controls and learn how to create a simple fire or shelters, you will be able to build advanced structures such as tree houses or log cabins.

To craft something, you have to click on the structure you need to build. A layer appears where you place this structure and shows you what links of materials you should have. Once you get those, start placing them until the structure is ready.

Replay Value 4,5/5

After you start playing the game, you get the feeling that you want to stay in this world for quite some time, slowly creating all the possible buildings. Lethal traps constructing, seeking through the frightening caves, and killing loads of cannibals. All these tasks make The Forest worth replaying it.

In-app Purchases

You won’t have to make any in-app purchases in The Forest game because there are none of them.

Though The Forest is an Early Access game and is under heavy development, it is still worth playing. You’ll have a remarkable experience after installing The Forest. The visuals and sound will blow you away, the crafting system is in-depth, and the gameplay is immersive. The developers still continue to update the game with new features, fix issues and keep the community up-to-date.
