Clash of Clans
Clash of Clans is one of the most popular medieval-styled strategy games for iOS and Android. Millions are already in; if you download Clash of Clans, you’ll always have someone to play with or versus!
Graphics — 5/5
Clash of Clans with its popularity is rather a trendsetter than a follower. Its unserious, half-animated visuals became genre defaults now. The landscapes are conventional but somehow magic. The characters look terrifying and powerful: true warriors or wizards. No wonder the developers later made another game: Clash Royale, with different mechanics, but the same visuals.
Gameplay — 5/5
Clash of Clans review should start with a statement that this game is a classical MMORPG in medieval fantasy settings. You play as the leader of a tribe that eventually builds its own city and army. Then you can exploit and protect your land, attack neighbors for loot, or both.
There are three sorts of resources in this game: gold, elixir (something resembling oil) and gems. Any of them can either be earned as a reward or bought for extra money. With these resources, you can train and upgrade troops, build and upgrade industrial and military objects, or unlock new possibilities.
When you’re ready to train enough troops, you can attack an enemy base. It may be protected, and, as your troops are programmed to attack the nearest object, the right deployment is the key to success. On the other hand, enemies may attack your base while you’re away as well, so take care of defensive structures.
And, finally, the thing about joining a clan to get bonuses and make raids together. Diplomacy makes your politics more flexible, and greater wars bring more excitement.
Controls — 5/5
Like most strategies, Clash of Clans doesn’t require precise gestures or combos, timing or anything. All you need to do is send your warriors to the right spots on the enemy ground, harvest money from your city buildings, and read messages. If you forget to collect your gold or elixir, the game will notify you, even if the app isn’t active.
Replay Value — 5/5
On the one hand, replaying your entire progress from the start is almost no fun, as you need to replay the stages you’ve been at. On the other, you don’t have to. Google or Apple accounts keep your data, and if you connect Facebook, you can switch across these platforms. As for separate combats or diplomacy, they offer almost unlimited perspectives.
The Bottom Line
Not so new, Clash of Clans by Supercell is still one of the top MMO strategies around. Its simple base and good animation are supported by easy gameplay and lots of possibilities. You may be already familiar with this game, but if you aren’t, you’ll still feel at ease with it in five minutes. But it may take more hours than you might expect.
Easy controls;
Free to play;
Lots of nuances to learn as you progress;
Always many players online.
The progress is slow unless you donate;
May take too much of your time.
