Viber Messenger
Viber Messenger is one on the biggest messengers for calls and media sharing on the market so far. It lets you send text messages and attach almost any file type to them or make protected phone calls with video for free. You can download Viber Messenger for Android on Play Market and iOS on the App Store.
Functionality – 5/5
The Viber Messenger app allows you to send simple text messages like in any other network and make them original with hundreds of exclusive stickers, GIF animations from your coupled Giphy account, or images from the gallery. You can also record video and audio messages, or just send a file instead of words.
Design – 4.5/5
This app is “famous” for almost daily updating, but Viber Messenger latest version looks exactly like it did last year, but with just a couple of cosmetic changes. In general, it’s convenient enough, but the closeness of file-sharing icons to the main text field is rather tricky. You may not notice it at all, or touch it several times in a row by accident.
Usability – 4.5/5
On the one side, Viber Messenger is one of the most versatile messengers on the market. It provides so many original features, such as graffiti drawing, GIF library, round video messages, unique stickers, and masks. On the other hand, everything seems a bit underworked because you’re supposed to make a lot of time-consuming browsing sometimes. Perhaps it’s a matter of habit, but file-sharing feels much quicker in WhatsApp. At the same time, it offers much more media-sharing features than others. You can find nearly any image for any occasion without leaving the app, and it’s excellent. If you use the app for chatting with work teams or family, then you will enjoy private group chats for 250 users. Unfortunately, there’s no option to create bigger communities.
Cross-Platform Use – 5/5
You can install Viber Messenger on Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, Windows PC, and Mac OS. Ubuntu and Fedora (Linux) have been released as well. The app works quite well on other platforms and syncs on several devices without any problems.
In-app purchases
The free Viber Messenger provides you with unlimited chatting, calls, GIF library, and several free sticker packs. You can purchase additional ones if you like them. Another paid feature is VoIP telephony. You can charge your Viber account and make calls to cellular devices of almost any operator around the world without a matching SIM-card.
The Bottom Line
Viber Messenger is an excellent try to combine a VoIP service with popular media-sharing features. It has quite a cumbersome user interface, but that’s justified by the freedom of choice. At the moment of posting this Viber Messenger review, the user base was 800 million people, which is incredibly many and means that you can meet many of your friends and colleagues here.
Huge user base;
Encrypted private and group chatting;
Nice exclusive stickers.
Too many updates for nothing.
